URGENT - Suburb Oaks in Danger

Help Save Denman Drive and Reynolds Close Oaks

You may have read on the front page of the Winter 08 issue of Suburb News how local residents, the Trust and the Residents Association worked together to save two magnificent oaks from being felled. The trees were under threat from an insurance company but local opposition to their removal caused Barnet Council to refuse the application to fell.

As well as refusing to allow two large oaks to be felled, Barnet issued an article 5 on the trees. This means that the trees can reasonably described as "special". However, it also means that the local authority cannot be held liable for any damage allegedly caused by an Article 5 tree.

Agents employed by the insurance company are now appealing Barnet's decision and the oaks are once again in danger of being felled. Further details are on page 4 of the Spring 08 Suburb News.

Please write in support of these trees to the address below. Your letter must arrive no later than 9 June for the Denman Drive tree, and 18 June for the Reynolds Close tree. Please make sure you say how very special these trees are.
